Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide

and their families (SVMF).



MISSION

Form lasting state, military, and community interagency and interdisciplinary partnerships to identify, test, and promote practical and effective SMVF suicide prevention strategies through statewide military and civilian collaborations.

The Governor’s Challenge initiative is a cross-agency collaboration between the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to advance the strategic implementation of suicide prevention policies and practices for service members, veterans and their families (SMVF).
